Cleburne, Texas - The Johnson County Sheriff's Posse Rodeo Committee and Cleburne Ford have finalized plans for the 59th annual Professional Rodeo Cowboy's Association Rodeo to be held at the Sheriff's Posse facility June 12-15, 2013, with performances starting each night at 8:00 P.M. Sponsored by Cleburne Ford and many other dedicated local business partners, this year’s production is anticipated to be very exciting.

The Rocky Mountain Rodeo Company and Will Cook will return to Cleburne with their award winning bucking stock and reputation for producing outstanding rodeos, and Barrel Man and Rodeo Clown, Cameron Keeton, will be there to keep everyone laughing.

We would like to thank everyone for your support of our 2012 PRCA rodeo last June. This event is our main funding event for the year, and is what enables us to continue to support area youth and benefit activities. In 2012 we were able to donate in excess of $30,000 (cash, scholarships and facility use) back to area youth groups and charity efforts (as with the recent Child Advocacy Center Bull Riding Event). It is also our goal to continue to provide our community and surrounding area with a quality, low cost, family oriented event that residents can look forward to attending year after year.

To kick off this year’s rodeo week, the HEB Mutton Bustin' preliminary competition will start at 9:00 A.M., Saturday, June 8, 2013, with the top 20 contestants being invited to compete for the HEB Mutton Bustin' Championship in the Friday and Saturday night rodeo performances. A stick horse rodeo will immediately follow the Saturday Mutton Bustin' preliminary competition. For entry information, call 817-454-7420.

Once again the Sheriff’s Posse will produce a County Team Roping on the Saturday preceding the Rodeo (June 08, 2013). The top eight teams will be invited to participate in the final go round to be held during each rodeo performance. For more information contact James Roller at 817-659-9245.

The official rodeo parade will be held Wednesday afternoon to usher in a full week of rodeo events. Anyone who would like to participate in the parade is welcome; sign up and line up at the Sheriff’s Posse grounds starting at 4:30 P.M. Negative Coggin’s is required for all horses.

This year our Wednesday night performance is dedicated to all of our Military and area First Responders.  Thursday night’s performance has once again been dedicated as “God and Country Night”, in partnership with Pastor Russ Weaver and the Shepherd’s Valley Cowboy Church in Egan.  Jackie Cox, award winning Christian Cowboy singer and song writer, will appear in concert beginning at 7:00 P.M., prior to the start of the evening’s rodeo performance.

To add to your rodeo enjoyment this year, we have invited the All American Cowgirl Chicks to dazzle attendees with their specialty act and trick riding demonstration on Wednesday and Thursday evening,s and Big Loop Johnson to demonstrate his trick roping skills on Friday and Saturday nights.

Back by popular demand will be the Businessman's Steer Saddling Event.  Each night six teams will compete to get their steer saddled and a rider across the finish line.  If you are interested in entering your team in this competition, call 817-313-2026.

The Steve Helms Band will be providing live music for the rodeo dance. This year the plan is for the dances to be held in the main meeting facility (White Building) immediately following the Saturday evening rodeo performance. Admission price to the dance is only $10 per person.

For the past 59 years, the members of the Johnson County Sheriff’s Posse have brought one of the finest outdoor professional rodeos in the United States to the residents of Johnson and surrounding counties. Come on out to our facility just south of the Johnson County Courthouse on Highway 174 and enjoy an evening of great entertainment in a family oriented atmosphere. Our full service concession stand will be serving the legendary "Posse Burger", so bring the family and come hungry!
